Vacation in your own backyard

Have you ever heard a New Yorker say: I’ve never been to the top of the Empire State Building? Exciting "adventures" can often be found in our own backyard. So how do you discover them?
  1. Start with the Internet. Most cities and towns have web sites and they are easy to find. Go to Google and type in your town/city name and state.

  2. Look for links that read "Our History" or "What to Do" or "Local Sights and
    Events."

  3. Stop by your town/city library. Most have a listing of attractions and events. Some libraries even have resident free passes to museums, aquariums, and botanical gardens.

  4. Many towns and cities have historical societies, chambers of commerce, and/or nature sanctuaries offering tours, programs, and events.

  5. Check the Sunday paper calendar of events. You’ll be amazed at all that is going on in your area.
